Is ChatBlink Video safe?
Most answers to this question are reassurance rather than information. Here is the specific version: what exists, where to find it, and which risks remain yours to manage. The parts that are not protective are stated as plainly as the parts that are.
What moderation actually is
Matching is monitored around the clock, and accounts that break the rules are removed. That is real, and it is the main thing standing between you and the worst of what random matching can produce.
What it is not is a guarantee about the next person you meet. Moderation is a response system — it acts on behaviour after that behaviour happens. Anyone claiming their platform prevents you from ever encountering something unpleasant is describing a product that does not exist.
Reporting and blocking — where they actually are
This catches people out, so it is worth being precise: report and block live on the other person's profile page. They are not buttons inside the call screen.
It is worth knowing this before you need it, because the moment you want it is the moment you least want to be hunting for it. If someone does something you want to report, leave the call, open their profile, and report from there.
What is stored, and what is not
Calls are not recorded. That is straightforwardly true and it is the part people care most about.
Chat messages, however, do have history. This is the detail that gets rounded off to "nothing is stored" on a lot of sites, and rounding it off is misleading. Video is not kept; what you typed is a different matter.
We also do not claim end-to-end encryption, because we have not built it. Plenty of sites in this category use the phrase loosely. Treat anything you would not want kept as something that could be kept.
The camera-off button does less than it looks like it does
Turning the camera off during a call applies a cover over your video. It does not stop the camera capturing. In practice the other person stops seeing you — but "stopped sending" and "stopped capturing" are not the same statement, and you should know which one you are getting.
If you want the camera genuinely uninvolved, do not start in video. Voice and text modes never request camera access at all — the browser prompt does not even appear.
What stays your responsibility
No moderation system protects you from what you volunteer. The things that actually cause harm in this category are almost always given away, not extracted: your surname, your school or employer, your street, your other handles, anything in the background of your shot that identifies where you live.
The single most useful habit is boring: check what is behind you before you turn the camera on.
- Do not share a last name, an address, a school or a workplace.
- Look at your background — a window, a poster, a street sign, a parcel with a label on it.
- Moving to another platform to continue a conversation removes every protection described on this page.
- If someone pressures you for money, images, or to move elsewhere, that is the signal to leave and report, not to negotiate.
